As the conference chair of an Eclipse conference you get special functions in the eclipsecon.org submission system. One of these functions is the "Big Button" page which is the last step to finalize the program and takes quite some effort to eventually press .

This year we had 190 submissions compared to 204 last year. Taking the overall economic situation into account this is really amazing. Luckily I had the best program comittee one can imagine. Jürgen Wiesmaier took care of everything IDE related, Bernd Kolb looked after the runtime category, Brett Hackleman made the embedded track and Ed Merks, well you know.

To me it was an exiting experience to see to what extent these guys know what is happening in the Eclipse universe but also to see what cool stuff is being developed "elsewhere".
Declining so many talks has not been easy and took us quite some time, especially since every single submission was worth it to be part of the program.
In case your submission has not been accepted you may want to consider to present your work in a symposium or a BoF. If your project is research related we may have something special for you - stay tuned.
Now have a look at the program which will be online very soon. For the first time ESE features tutorials ranging from Mylyn over Scala to DSLs. We have wonderful keynotes on Open Source Maturity , the new kids on the block called Functional Programming and of course, the best talks about Eclipse technology you can get.
Thanks a lot to all who have submitted a talk and thanks to the PC, Lynn and Ralph for the hard and successfull work.
Hope to see you in Ludwigsburg
Hendrik
