MicroDoc External Device Framework (EDF)

A distributed device framework for Java™ and WCTME™

MicroDoc EDF/J is a programming framework for developers who have to integrate non standard devices into Java programs. It is suited for kiosk systems, payment terminals, ticketing systems and similar applications. EDF/J also supports the distribution of device control and business application onto distributesd systems (through RMI, HTTP and CORBA). The “external device” abstraction is also applicable for transaction procession backends accessed through terminal emulator software.

Among the currently supported devices are:

  • IER 557 Airline Ticket Printer (and similar models)
  • IER 512 Bagtag Printer
  • Siemens Bag Tag Printer
  • Omron Card Reader Family
  • Attachmate Info Connect Terminal Emulators
  • Cute Devices

MicroDoc EDF/J is also available for IBM WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment on Win32 and Linux platforms (x86 processors).
